Business Development Representative

News & Experts has an exciting opportunity for an aggressive sales professional or someone looking to begin a promising career in sales. The mission for the Business Development Representative (BDR) is to generate and qualify new business opportunities. Successful candidates must have a strong work ethic, passion to be part of News & Experts, and the drive to not only meet, but exceed, sales targets. Self-motivated individuals looking to build a solid foundation in professional sales are an ideal fit for this position.



Generate leads and qualify new business opportunities.
Initiate the business cycle.
Conduct early stage project management of client account.
Vet prospects and leads to match target market.
Set expectations for business cycle and overcome objections from the prospects.
Work with clients to customize business proposals.
Develop skills necessary for promotion into a full, closing role.

Attention to Detail - Does not let important details slip through the cracks or derail a project.
Excellent Communication Skills - Speaks and writes clearly and articulately without being overly. verbose or talkative. Maintains this standard in all forms of written communication, including email.
Listening Skills - Lets others speak and seeks to understand their viewpoints.
Persistence - Demonstrates tenacity and willingness to go the distance to get something done.
Persuasion - Able to convince others to pursue a course of action.
Proactivity - Acts without being told what to do. Brings new ideas to the company.


Preferred skills and experience:

3 years or more experience in sales
4-year college degree required
Background or understanding of marketing related public relations functions
An interest in building a career in sales
Go-getter with a competitive drive
Ability to gain and understand specific industry and/or client-related knowledge quickly
Positive and energetic attitude with exceptional communication skills
Resilience, perseverance, and the ability to overcome objections
Ability to work in a high-energy, sales-team environment; team player
Cold calling and sales training experience a plus
